Understanding Options Data

The Greeks Explained

Delta (Δ)

Measures how much the option price changes when the stock moves $1. Calls: 0 to 1, Puts: -1 to 0.

Gamma (Γ)

Rate of change of Delta. Higher gamma means Delta changes faster as stock price moves.

Theta (Θ)

Time decay — how much value the option loses each day. Usually negative (options lose value over time).

Vega (ν)

Sensitivity to volatility changes. Higher vega means the option is more affected by IV changes.

Key Metrics

Implied Volatility

Market's expectation of future price movement.

Open Interest

Total outstanding contracts. High OI = more liquidity.

Intrinsic Value

Real value if exercised now (stock - strike for calls).
